Popular American publication USA Today, recently unveiled the result of its survey of 10 of the best US casinos outside Las Vegas. The results are eye-opening, to say the least.
When rating the resort casinos, The USA Today survey focused on the overall gaming experience and evaluated what the place had to offer, fees it charged per visit, and also the value for the services offered. Three of the country’s largest tribal casinos made it to the top 10 list, with Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut at the number 2 spot.
Probably the biggest surprise from this survey is the fact that the Barona Resort and Casino in Lakeside California—a casino that’s not as popular as Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods—took the top spot. The Barona Resort is a tribal casino that’s home to over 2,500 slot machines. It also features a 400-room hotel, luxury spas, and top-notch golf and dining facilities.
The results were collected via interview to players, consultations with gaming industry analysts, and research from the 10Best editorial staff. Most casinos that made it to the list, except for the number 10 spot taken by a casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, are located on the East and West Coast. New York, California, and Connecticut had more entries on the list.
Both players and experts agree that having a wide range of table games available as well as friendly table dealers are important. But what truly makes players come back to a casino is a strong loyalty program that rewards them. Other factors that affect a casino’s rating include smoke-free floors, and a wide selection of entertainment and food, and a great range of slot machines in all currencies.
