Swedish state-owned gambling operator Svenska Spel recently signed an agreement to join the Lotteries Entertainment Innovation Alliance AS (LEIA).
Established in 2018, LEIA is a joint venture company between Française des Jeux, Danske Lotteri Spil, Veikkaus, and Norsk Tipping. The lotteries work together in sharing resources to build a broader and more efficient digital gaming offer, allowing them to address some of the most common challenges in the digital space, and promote open innovation. Their goal is to develop liquidity games and to provide a wider range of games to consumers.
“Svenska Spel is really happy to be part of LEIA and look forward to a long-term strategic cooperation which will benefit both Svenska Spel and LEIA,” Patrick Hofbauer, Svenska Spel president and CEO, said.
“We are really pleased to have Svenska Spel on board as it will strengthen the Alliance to achieve its targets,” Olli Sarekoski, Veikkasu CEO and Chairman of LEIA, commented on the partnership.
“We have worked hard the last two years establishing the venture, connecting the lotteries to a common marketplace for provision of games and we are well on the track with our business plans,” Morten Eriksen, LEIA CEO, said.
“Svenska Spel’s accession into the venture will contribute with a broader portfolio of games, increased innovation power and further economies of scale,” Eriksen added.
