Sioux City, Iowa –The sports betting industry in the state could see a huge boom this 2021.
Gamblers no longer have to be physically present to create a sports betting account. According to the previous law, an account must be created by an eligible individual in person with a licensee, forcing people in Iowa to walk into land-based sports betting venues to place their bets.
Under the new law, residents in Iowa will be allowed to download gaming apps or open an account online regardless of where they live.
“it now allows us to market and reach customers who didn’t necessarily have an opportunity to come to the Hardrock and enjoy what we have going on right here, and now they have the opportunity to do so online,” Anthony Torres, Director of Sports Books Operations at the Sioux City Hardorck Hotel and Casino, said.
This change in the new year will make sports betting become more accessible to everyone in Iowa, and also provide more convenience for gamblers. Gamblers just need to provide their name, address, phone number, email address, birth date, and the last four digits of their social security number when registering online. The Sioux City Hardrock hopes that with this new amity, they would continue to see foot traffic into their location.
“You’ll still be able to enjoy our retail experience here, and our loyal customers are doing so, and we will not see a drop in that, but we will see an increase, and the state will see an increase in online participants,” Torres explained.
