Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ), Portugal’s gambling regulator, announced that SkillOnNet, a white label casino supplier and operator, was granted a license to offer games of chance in the region, through the Bacanaplay.pt domain.
SkillOnNet is allowed to offer slots, blackjack and French and American roulette via the Portuguese-facing brand.
SkillOnNet is the latest operator granted a Portuguese license, after Bidluck in June, and Solverde just in September this year.
A legislative bill was introduced back in March calling for additional restrictions to be imposed on online gaming in the region in response to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Specific details of the restrictions, however, were not explained thoroughly.
The bill referred to Spain as another jurisdiction which imposed limits on the activity, after new regulations there saw advertising from operators were allowed only between 1am and 5am.
Prime Gaming, SkillOnNet’s client, completed the migration of its brands to the supplier’s platform in October. This was after it signed a partnership with Aspire Global. They Cyprus-based operator was said to be making moves to expand its global footprint through the migration.
Portugal’s gaming revenues increased by 8.4% to €131.8 million in the first quarter of 2020. Online gaming revenue also increased by 47.5% to €69.8 million compared to the same period in 2019.
