MoPlay Signs Up With German Sports Betting Association

MoPlay, an Addison Global-owned sports betting brand, has signed up with the German Sports Betting Association (DSWV).

MoPlay joins the ranks of William Hill, Sky Bet, bet365, Paddy Power Betfair, and Interwetten as a member of the organization, which is comprised of operators active in Germany.

Since it was founded in 2018, MoPlay has established itself in Germany with help from its partnership with Bundesliga football club Hertha BSC.

Besides Germany, MoPlay also operates in markets like Austria, The Republic of Ireland and the UK.  MoPlay also went live in Mexico last week.

“As a new member of the DSWV, we are expressly committed to Germany and will participate in the discussion on future sports betting regulation,” Jürgen Reutter, MoPlay chief executive, said. “Our innovative betting product focusing on mobile devices in combination with our young brand will also be a growth driver in Germany,” he added.

Mathias Dahms, DSWV president, added, “We warmly welcome MoPlay to our association and look forward to supporting the international start-up led by experienced managers from the European iGaming sector as a powerful new member.”

MoPlay’s addition as a DSWV member comes after the organization called for a root and branch overhaul of Germany’s current gambling regulatory framework last month.

Dahms said that because operators are now expected to abide by the restrictive terms of the third amended State Treaty on Gambling until June 30, 2021, the market should be notably expanded under the law that replaces it.
