Michigan schedules launch for online betting and gaming on January 22

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has just given eight (8) operators the green light to launch both online betting and gaming—and a ninth approval to launch online wagering alone—starting Friday, January 22.

Richard S. Kalm, MGCB executive director, explained that with huge consumer demand, he expected the state to reveal high revenue figures and create significant returns through taxation from the launch.

“The Michigan Gaming Control Board and the state’s commercial and tribal casinos will begin a new era on January 22 with the launch of regulated online gaming and sports betting,” Kalm said.

“Michigan residents love sports and, judging by inquiries we’ve received, eagerly anticipate using mobile devices to place bets through commercial and tribal casinos,” he added.
