The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino has opened a new hotel in the shape of a massive guitar in Hollywood, Florida. The new hotel is already gaining a lot of attention from across the globe.
The new 600-room hotel, known as the Guitar Hotel, opened its doors on October 24, 2019. It actually came as a surprise that it took the Seminole so long to come up with an eye-popping venue such as this.
The property is 450 feet tall and the entire project cost $1.5 billion to complete. It is so large that it is visible from the air as far away as Fort Lauderdale.
The new guitar-shaped hotel is home to more than a hundred guest rooms and a new concert and event hall that offer seating for roughly 6,500 guests. The said concert hall features a clamshell design. The first act invited to perform in the venue will be the popular pop band Maroon 5.
The unique shape of the new Hard Rock hotel creates a cozy and intimate setting for their guests. Guests have the option to purchase tickets for a ‘traditional’ seating or upgrade to a premium spot that comes with a non-stop cocktail service.
In addition to the unique entertainment space, visitors will also find The Oculus—a unique installation that incorporates fire, water, and technology, choreographed together with music.
Guests who will be staying at the hotel will have access to additional facilities, including 19 restaurants, The Oculus Bar, and the newly renovated Council Oak. The property also features the New Rock Spa and Salon Oasis that boasts of salt rooms and saunas.
Jim Allen, Hard Rock International CEO, is excited about the new venue and is happy with the attention it is getting. According to him, the idea was to offer a generic guitar—one that’s not tied to any particular artist.
“The Hard Rock brand is stronger today than it ever has been,” Allen says. He also adds that the brand “represents more than food, beverage, and a place to stay.”
When asked on the inspiration for the design of the hotel, Allen responds, saying:
“I said in a passing comment to one of our architects, ‘We should shape it like a huge guitar.’ That was the first chapter and here we stand today.”
The Guitar Hotel signals the beginning of Hard Rock International’s plans for expansion. The company will be spending a total of $2.2 billion for this hotel and another one in Tampa, Florida.
