Sports betting and gaming operator FanDuel Group held a grand opening FanDuel Sportsbook & Horse Racing, its new retail sportsbook located at former Fairmount Park in Collinsville, Illinois.
This retail location opened to the public on Monday where Ozzie Smith, St. Louis sports legend and Baseball Hall of Famer, placed the first bet.
This is FanDuel’s second retail sportsbook in Illinois, the other one being Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria, which opened in September last year. It is the second track to open a retail sportsbook in Illinois. All in all, there are 10 retail locations for sports bettors in the state—seven casinos, both racing tracks, and Hawthorne’s off-track betting site located in Crestwood.
FanDuel’s Sportsbook is located in the Clubhouse and boasts of a 98-inch LED video wall with twenty-four 65-inch LED video displays throughout the area. The sportsbook comes with five live betting windows, a huge sports ticker as well as 20 IGT PlaySports self-service betting kiosks.
FanDuel will supply its proprietary risk and trading technology to leverage the IGT PlaySports platform to offer bets on all major sports in the U.S.A, including basketball, baseball, professional football, tennis, golf, soccer, MMA, motorsports racing, and more.
“This has been a special project for us because our name isn’t just on the sportsbook, it’s on the track itself,” Keith Wall, FanDuel Group Vice President of Retail, said.
“FanDuel has made a commitment to revitalize this location by making capital improvements and hiring from within the community. The opening of the sportsbook is the first major step in this project,” he added.
