The Racing and Digital Division of online gambling and entertainment company Sportech has just completed the integration of its Quantum pari-mutuel betting solution with Danske Spil’s network of gaming terminals. Danske Spil is Denmark’s national lottery operator.
The integration, carried out together with Scientific Games, will allow Danske Spil to manage pari-mutuel bets on horseracing through an extended amount of retail points of sale.
The integration with Danske Spil terminals will expand the retail network for pari-mutuel betting on horse racing to 600 more retail outlets all over Denmark. Gambling operator Scientific Games supplies Danske Spil’s terminals.
The exptended service will be available to players starting next year, on 2021.
“The expansion of our horseracing pools will offer exciting new content to more players and generate additional support for the horseracing industry in Denmark,” Niels Erik Folmann, Danske Spil chief executive, said.
Meanwhile, Sportech’s senior vice president of sales and business development EMEA, Bruno Gay, commented:
“The integration of Sportech’s Quantum System with terminals supplied by Scientific Games also opens the door for future opportunities to extend pari-mutuel pools betting on horseracing and other sports through their terminal network.”
The integration follows after the national operator reported a 7.0% year-on-year decrease in gross gaming revenue for its third quarter last week, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) imposed lockdown on its land-based venues.
The operator reported a gross gaming revenue of DKK 3.44 billion ($545.8 million) for the first three months to September 30, down from DKK 3.69 billion in the same period last year.
Sportech, on the other hand, unanimously rejected the latest string of takeover attempts from New York-based investment fund Standard General last week.
According to Sportech, “this fundamentally undervalues [its] business and prospects”.
