Australia—The Aquis Entertainment Group will be reopening Casino Canberra today after over four months of closure since March 23.
The company, which is under the management of Hong Kong businessman Tony Fung, announced on Friday that Casino Canberra will reopen its doors from 10 a.m. as the Australian Capital Territory plans on further easing Covid-19 restrictions. The property, however, will operate on a restricted basis. Restrictions include customers being served alcohol while seated, a cap of 100 people per defined area (excluding staff), and a maximum of one person per four square meters of usable space.
Majority of employees currently on standby will also be summoned “to a capacity of between 50^ and 100%” depending on their job descriptions and availability of work.
“Allison (Gallaugher, CEO) and her team have worked hard during the shutdown in controlling the company through the hibernation period and preparing for reopening under restricted trading conditions,” Fung explained.
“We look forward to seeing our employees and patrons returning to the casino in the coming weeks,” he added.
