The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) revealed that Safer Gambling Week 2020 will be held around November 19 to 25.
The six-day event, which used to be called “Responsible Gambling Week”, will be organized in cooperation with the Bingo Association and the British Amusement Catering Trade Association. It aims to unite the industry in discussion.
The event’s slogan “Let’s talk about safer gambling,” will remain, and the BGC assures that this “strikes the right chord” with the range of audiences it seeks to reach with its campaign.
Responsible Gambling Week was initially organized by the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling back in 2017. It aimed to encourage businesses in the industry to start a dialogue on safer gambling.
Michael Dugher, BGC CEO, said: “Safer Gambling Week is a fantastic initiative which the GBC are proud to play a leading role in.”
“Our members are determined to raise standards and as part of this year’s campaign can point to significant changes that we have introduced, including new cooling-off periods on gaming machines, substantially increased funding for research, education and treatment; a ‘whistle to whistle’ ban on advertising during sport; new ID and age-verification checks and a ban on betting with credit cards,” he added.
