Dubai, Saudi Arabia—The Saudi police detained 15 Bangladeshi expats for gambling in Riyadh, according to a report by the local media on Sunday.
Reports detail how the police raided an apartment in the capital where the suspects were said to have practiced gambling, Colonel Shaker Al Tuwaijri, the media spokesperson for the Riyadh Police, said.
“The police monitored the house after receiving information that Bangladeshi expatriates were gathering there during the weekends and using cards to gamble,” Al Tuwaijri explained.
The suspects were arrested and caught red-handed in possession of a huge amount of money. They were then referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action and were detained and awaiting investigation and trial.
Gambling is considered illegal in Saudi Arabia under Islamic Law.
